At your request, a “superbill” will be provided with an itemized list of services for you to submit to your insurance should you so choose. It is highly recommended that you contact your insurance provider with any questions regarding out-of-network benefits.

  •  Your needs dictate treatment: Insurance companies may limit the types of services, types of providers, or number of sessions that you are able to receive. With private pay, you can find a provider with the expertise you need and customize the care you need to get back to healthy sleep.

Increased privacy: With private pay, you control access to your records. When working with a provider through your insurance, the insurance company can request to review therapy records and may deny or limit coverage or types of therapy. The diagnosis and treatment history also become part of your insurance records and could impact future coverage or premiums.

  • No, not at all. In fact, many people seeking sleep treatment start while they are on sleeping medications and may find them to be ineffective or only minimally effective. Although Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is the gold standard treatment for insomnia, most people are given medications first and may have never even heard of CBT-I.

It’s important to know that sleep medications are designed as a “band-aid” for sleep problems and do not fix the underlying cause of poor sleep. CBT-I and behavioral approaches for sleep help you to understand your sleep better, figure out why your sleep has gotten off track, and actually fix the problem. If you are interested in working towards getting off your sleep medications, we can work together with your prescriber to design a plan to gradually reduce your sleep medications over time to achieve your sleep goals.

  • The first step in your journey towards healthy sleep will start with an individualized, comprehensive assessment. During this 60-90 minute appointment, we will collaborate to figure out the puzzle pieces of your sleep. Expect to be asked many questions about your sleep – perhaps questions you have never considered before - as well as getting to know each other. Taking the time to really get to know your sleep is key to allow us to develop a personalized sleep plan to get you the healthy sleep that you deserve.
